About Joyce/Contact Info

In my prior incarnation I practiced criminal law in New York City for 11 years and then became a U.S. Administrative Law Judge assigned to the Social Security Administration.  In that position I heard and determined Social Security Disability appeals and Medicare appeals. I retired after 27 years in 2009.  I hold a B.A. in history from Long Island University, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Brooklyn Law School, and masters in health law and policy (LL.M) from Seton Hall University School of Law.

I first became interested in Chinese Medicine in 1997 when I had my first acupuncture treatment for low back pain and knee pain. I began reading in the field, but it was not until I moved to Connecticut from New Jersey that I became serious about Qi Gong.  My internist recommended an acupuncturist and Qi Gong therapist, Char Marie, http://www.charmariehealing.com/ .  When I first consulted Char I was walking with two canes because I had not had acupuncture in approximately two years.  With Char’s healing, and the Qi Gong meditations she taught me I was walking normally in a very short time.

In 2007 Char’s teacher and mentor Grand Master T.K. Shih, a fifth generation healer, for the first time, offered weekend courses in Qi Healing.  Char suggested I take these courses and so I registered and met Grand Master Shih for the first time.  I had suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for years, but after four weekends working with Master Shih and learning both how to heal myself, and treat patients, I felt better than I had ever felt in my entire life.  And so I became a Qi healer.  At the time I was still working as a U.S. Administrative Law Judge, so I used my healing skills to help friends and family.  I retired in 2009, but about a year later, my husband was diagnosed with a very aggressive large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  During his illness and until his death February 25, 2011, I used Qi Gong to provide him with pain relief.

In 2012 I again began studying with Grand Master Shih at the Chinese Healing Arts Center, www.qihealer.com and became a Certified Qi Gong Therapist.

When you come to me for healing you will look out on a park like setting, listen to healing music, talk with someone who understands pain, receive a Qi Gong treatment, and learn to help yourself build Qi.

Please call or e-mail me for an appointment in the beautiful Northwest Hills of Connecticut at my place, or yours: 860-485-4986, qihealerjoyce@hotmail.com
